Collective Knowledge about Situational Leadership

 


Your Group's Assignment:  When you have completed your reading and web search, collectively respond to the questions below in preparation to "teach" your concept with your original "home group."

 

 

Using This Wiki

  1. Select a recorder.

Define the Theory

 

 

 Leadership style based on recognizing the motivation and compentcies of the follower and using either a task focused or relationship focused approached to accomplish the task at hand.

 

 

 

What are the outcomes?  When might this leadership style be used?

 

 The desired outcome is more effective use of leadership skills to get the most out the followers. This style can be used in all situations regardless of the task or the motivation or compentency of the follower.

 

 

 

 

What are the critical skills an administrator would need to be able to demonstrate this leadership style?

 

The leadership style is based on strategic choice and not as a function of thier personality. Leaders adapt thier style to the followers level of development. Leader needs to have ability to recoginize followers competency and motivation levels and adjust their focus accordingly.
