Collective Knowledge about Situational Leadership

Your Group's Assignment:  What are the characteristics of Situational Leadership that align with each of the School Improvement Categories: Instructional, Shared, Operational/Resource Management and with Interpersonal Relationships?

Instructional Leadership

Situational Leadership aligns with Instructional Leadership by providing instructional support to those who need it through coaching and facilitating.  Also, the situational leader gives clear expectations.

Shared Leadership

With Situational Leadership, a leader differentiates his/her style according to the person(s) being led.  Therefore, he/she is being inclusive and equitable.  Also, the situational leader is data driven as he/she must make decisions about how to lead based upon the data that has been gathered about those being led.

Operational/Resource Management

Situational leaders use time efficiently because they assign tasks according to competencies.

 Interpersonal Relationships

Situational leaders must be highly adept at interpersonal relationships in order to be able to glean the relevant information about their staffs.  As a result, they must also be flexible.
