Collective Knowledge about Transactional/Transformational Leadership

 


Your Group's Assignment:  What are the characteristics of Transactional/Transformational Leadership that align with each of the School Improvement Categories: Instructional, Shared, Operational/Resource Management and with Interpersonal Relationships? 

 

 

Using This Wiki

  1. Select a recorder.
  2. Recorder will enter in the space below the group's collective knowledge in each category. While the recorder is entering text into the wiki, group members stand behind, providing input!
  3. To add text, click on the "Edit Page" button at the top left. You will be prompted to enter a password. The password is the name of our program. You will also be asked to enter your name so we can know who edited the page.
  4. After you have logged in with a password and your first name, insert your cursor where you want to begin typing, and begin!
  5. Don't forget to click the "Save" button at the bottom of your screen occasionally!

Instructional Leadership

 

Transactional - You must have clear expectations and monitor those expectations to determine if your staff members deserve their rewards. Your expectations should be tied to measureable student results. You must create tasks for your staff to complete that will help them become teachers.

 

Transformational - You have to create a vision that is tied to curriculum and assessment. Your vision has to focus on student results. You want your staff to take pride in student accomplishments.

 

Shared Leadership

 

Transactional - Your rewards have to be tied to measurable student improvement. Staff should be recognized for their contributions and consulted on educational initiatives.

 

Transformational - You have to generate excitement among your staff to embrace data inquiry. You have to inspire staff members to make contributions to the whole.

 

Operational/Resource Management

 

Transactional - You have to find the time and resources that the staff wants for rewards.

 

Transformational - You have to give your staff the resources they need to work towards their goals.

 

Interpersonal Relationships

 

Transactional - You have to communicate with your staff to determine what they want for rewards. Your rewards have to address the diverse needs and motivations of your staff.

 

Transformational - Your staff should have input on your vision. Your vision should be developed with input from students, parents, professional and support staff.
