Collective Knowledge about Instructional Leadership
Your Group's Assignment: What are the characteristics of Instructional Leadership that align with each of the School Improvement Categories: Instructional, Shared, Operational/Resource Management and with Interpersonal Relationships?
Using This Wiki
- Select a recorder.

Instructional Leadership: Principal actively supports day to day instructional activities-models desired behaviors, participates in inservice trainings, consistently gives priorty to instructional concerns. Instructional leadership causes teachers to increase their efforts on behalf of the organization and develop more skilled practices.
Shared Leadership: Learning is everyone's responsibility. All employees are expected to be teachers and learners. There are collaborative efforts among the administration/staff. Action leadership is employed. Standards based leadership to improve teaching and learning. There are clear goals for the schools and those goals are articulated by the leader to the faculty/staff.
Operational/Resource Management: The leader ensures that the teachers have the materials, facilities, and budget necessary to adequately perform their duties. Leaders arrange the opportunities , but teachers must learn and apply.
Interpersonal Relationships: The leader has a visible presence within the school. There exists a peer to peer coaching model. The leader must have a clear vision and communicate the vision to the staff.
