Collective Knowledge about Instructional Leadership

 


Your Group's Assignment:  What are the characteristics of Instructional Leadership that align with each of the School Improvement Categories: Instructional, Shared, Operational/Resource Management and with Interpersonal Relationships? 

 

 


Instructional Leadership:  

Instructional leaders have knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment.

They have knowledge of technolgy, student development and learning.

They are focused on student results and knowledge of adult learning.

They offer instructional support through monitoring, coaching, facilitating and evaluating staff using clear expectations, collaborating and communicating.

 

 

Shared Leadership

With learning as the focus, the instructional leader, shares leadership with others and delegates leadership responsibility. The mission of the school is shared with continuous improvement monitored along the way. 

 

 

Operational/Resource Management

All resources within the school are aligned with the vision of instruction, teaching and learning.

 

 

Interpersonal Relationships

Instructional leaders establish conditions that involve families, community, support teachers and help children succeed. 

They lead by example to inspire and motivate.
